PTO Board Appointments
The PTO is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Allsop as the new independent Chair of the Board of the Public Transport Ombudsman Limited from 26 June 2012. The PTO Directors, Ombudsman and Staff thank Merran Kelsall, Chair since 2004, for her leadership and contribution to the establishment and development of the PTO.
Richard held the position of Consumer Director on the PTO Board from July 2011 until June 2012. His appointment as Chair was made by the Minister for Public Transport, in accordance with the PTO Constitution.
Richard has considerable experience in public transport, both as a long-time regular user of Victoria's public transport and professionally. From 1992 to 1999, he was Adviser and then Chief of Staff to two Ministers for Public Transport in Victoria, and more recently he has been a commentator on transport and related issues for the Institute of Public Affairs. Richard has worked as an adviser to a Federal Minister and has extensive experience as a consultant to both the private and public sectors on matters of public policy, communications and stakeholder management.
Caroline Elliott has been appointed as a PTO Consumer Director by the Minister for Public Transport. Caroline is a Chartered Accountant and has extensive operational and analytical experience in both international and domestic markets and has experience in government relations, foreign exchange and business development. Caroline has an Economics degree from Monash University and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
